Lester and Ruth will lead Maggie and Minnie Gulches in the Silverton area this Friday, Oct. 14th. Rating is a 3 /4 on a scale of 10. If interested, meet at the Visitor’s Center in Ouray at 9:30am. Have a full tank of gas, water, lunch, snacks, etc.

Delores River Overlook Pop Up Run

Dolores River Overlook road/route/trail
Friday, Nov. 18, 2022
Meet at the small staging area at the Moab end of the Dewey Bridge, South side of Highway 128. This is also the usual starting point for Top Of The World.
Plan to leave at 11am.
Expect to have lunch somewhere along the route or at the Overlook.
Trail is mostly easy, Out & back, 18 miles each way, about 5 hours round trip.

Could depend on Weather.

Good warm up for Red Rocks 4 Wheeler’s Trail of the Month on Saturday, Nov. 19. See their website for info.

Smith Mountain Jeep Road

The annual clean-up for this Club adopted trail will be on Wednesday June 28,2023. Meet at Downtown City Market at 9:00am. Please have a full tank of gas, water, lunch, snacks, etc. Also bring a bag for trash, if we find any, and brush cutters or trimmers, in case we need to clear the trail.

Rimrocker Trail Pre-Run

Lester and Ruth will lead a pre-run of Parts 1 and 2 of the Rimrocker Trail this Friday, June 30th. Part 1 would be rated a 1 and Part 2 would be rated a 3. Part 1 runs from Montrose to Nucla; Part 2 runs from Nucla to Highway 141. Plan to leave Downtown City Market at 9am; bring water, snacks, lunch etc. Will probably have lunch at the City Park in Nucla. Have a full tank of gas. We will most likely return on pavement.

John Brown Road

Lester and Ruth plan to be in Moab on Sat. July 15th. On the way over on Friday, July 14th, we plan to drive to Moab via John Brown Road, rated easy, from Gateway Co to Castleton UT. If interested in driving that route over with us, plan to meet at Montrose Old City Market on the 14th at 9am. Have a full tank of gas, water, lunch, snacks, etc. We’ll have lunch somewhere along the way and make Moab by supper time.

Sunlight Basin, WY

This trail starts north of Cody WY and goes into the northern Absaroka Range. 35 miles long; last 19 miles requires 4X4 capability. Meet at Ivy Inn, Best Western Motel in Cody WY (1800 8th St); plan to leave at 9am. Bring water, lunch, snacks and have a full tank of gas. Have not previously run this trail but would estimate rating at 4/5.

Morrison Jeep Road

For those of you interested in the trip to Cody WY in August – we talked with Terry this morning and he is all in for leading the portion of the Morrison Jeep Road which can be driven these days (coming in from the north and driving south as far as the switchbacks).

That trip will be on Friday, August 11th and will leave from the Exxon gas station at the intersection of 16th street and WY highway 120 in Cody at 8:30am. Have all the usuals.

Kirwin Ghost Town, WY
Aug 12 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

This trail starts South of Cody, WY and heads southwest to the site of Kirwin, a gold-mining ghost town situated at 9,200. feet. Plan to meet at the Ivy Inn, Best Western Motel in Cody WY (1800 8th ST). Leave at 9am; bring lunch, water, snacks and have full tank of gas. Trail is 27.5 miles long and requires 4X4 capability for the last 7.5 miles. Have not previously run this trail but would estimate rating at 4.

Stony Pass
Aug 30 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Lester and Ruth S. expect to drive the Stony Pass Trail this coming Wednesday, August 30. After the Pass, we also expect to continue on as far as Pole Creek for lunch and then return. We do not plan to go up to Buffalo Boy Tram House or out to Kite Lake.

If interested, please meet at South City Market at 9:00am with a full tank of gas, lunch, water and snacks. We will make a stop at the station in Silverton to air down before starting the trail.

The part of Stony Pass and beyond that we are doing is rated as easy / moderate and is about 12 miles in length.

Eureka Gulch
Sep 4 @ 8:45 am – 4:00 pm

Lester and Ruth will lead a trail ride into Eureka Gulch in the Silverton area on Monday Sept 4th. If time allows, we will then go into Minnie (and possibly Maggie)Gulch.

If interested, please plan to meet us at South City Market at 8:45am on the 4th. Have a full tank of gas, lunch, water, snacks, etc. We will stop at the gas station in Silverton to air down and regroup. Let us know if we should expect you to meet us in Silverton.

Plan to use Club Radio Channel 5.

Eureka Gulch Trail is rated Easy in our Guide Book. Last time we drove Minnie or Maggie they were also easy.
